African corporate Eurobonds, explained
Eurobonds issued by African companies and state-owned enterprises — 8 bonds from 4 issuers. Each is listed under its country of risk: the country of the guarantor if the notes are guaranteed in full, else the country where most of the issuer’s assets are, else its operating headquarters — never its place of incorporation, which for a bond issued through a holding company can be a different country altogether. Every term on these pages is read from the issuer’s own document, or confirmed by the issuer in writing where the document is not public, and the page says which.

What is different about a corporate Eurobond
A sovereign repays in full at maturity and rarely has the right to repay early. Most corporate Eurobonds do: a five-year note is typically repayable from its second or third anniversary at a small premium, and at par from its fourth. Where a bond on this site carries such a schedule, its page lists the dates and prices and the yield shown is the yield to worst rather than the yield to maturity. A bank bond may also be subordinated (Tier 2 or Additional Tier 1), which its page states as its ranking.
Where the offering document is not public — several African corporate Eurobonds are sold under Regulation S and Rule 144A with the document held only by the issuer and its banks — the page shows the price and withholds the yield until the terms have been read, and says so.
